A Day in the Life - Sam, Talent Acquisition Partner
What does a typical day look like for you?
- Every day is a little different! As someone in Talent Acquisition I am constantly meeting with interesting people at one of the many wonderful coffee shops throughout Austin (or virtually). I am also currently working on finding a great office space so am visiting various potential coworking spaces and trying them out.
What is it like being the first one on the ground in Austin?
- It’s a great experience getting to work with our offices throughout the world and incorporating the fun, dynamic, ever-changing environments that the other offices have into the unique fast-paced tech hub that Austin represents.
What have you enjoyed the most so far?
- Part of what makes Snowfall so great is that we are building a travel tech solution and that means that everyone in the company is as enthusiastic and excited about travel as I am! Flying out to the UK on my first week and meeting with Snowfallers from all around the globe emphasized that to me in a great way.
Have you learned anything new since you started?
- I learn something new every day. One of the fun conversations I recently had was explaining the intricate bylaws and federal regulations surrounding healthcare to my colleagues.. It’s something that even I have to constantly look up and research but explaining it to people who live in countries like the UK and Sweden is a whole other task 😵💫.
What advice would you give someone applying to Snowfall?
- We value an enthusiastic and driven personality at Snowfall. We all like to travel and really believe that what we are building is changing and will continue to completely disrupt the travel industry. With that being said, like in any startup, there is a lot of fast-paced change so someone who can deal with and thrive in that type of environment is something we are keen on finding in anybody that is joining our ranks.
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
- I’m outgoing and love meeting new people (hence my career choices), so at any given time you can find me talking to random strangers at the bar, making new friends on a birthday barge, paddle-boarding with a new Meetup group down Lady Bird Lake, or playing some pick-up soccer (Fútbol to my non-americans) at Zilker Park.
