Currently we are looking for a lead full-stack developer to join our growing Athens team!

About the Role

We’re looking for a highly skilled and experienced lead full-stack developer with a strong frontend specialisation to join our growing tech team and help build an engineering centre in Athens. You’ll be leading by example—developing scalable web applications, mentoring developers, and helping to drive the technical direction of frontend-heavy projects.

This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for delivering seamless, performant user experiences while also maintaining robust backend systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of full-stack applications, with a strong emphasis on front-end architecture and performance.

  • Set coding standards, perform code reviews, and mentor a future team of frontend and fullstack developers.

  • Collaborate closely with Product, UX/UI, DevOps, and QA to ship high-quality features on time.

  • Develop scalable and maintainable frontend codebases using modern frameworks (e.g., React, Svelte, etc.).

  • Ensure backend services (e.g., Node.js, Python, etc.) integrate cleanly and efficiently with frontend components.

  • Guide the team through technical decisions, ensuring alignment with best practices and long-term maintainability.

  • Help develop the CI/CD pipeline, code quality, and delivery practices for frontend components.

  • Evaluate and recommend new tools, libraries, and practices to improve development workflows.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React, TypeScript, Svelte (nice to have)

  • Backend: Node.js, Python, Express, REST/GraphQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB

  • DevOps/Infra: AWS, Docker, GitLab, Kubernetes (nice to have)

  • Tooling: Jira, Figma, Storybook, Cypress, Jest

Requirements

  • Strong professional experience in software development, with ideally 2+ years in a technical leadership role.

  • Deep expertise in frontend development, including responsive design, performance optimisation, and accessibility.

  • Solid experience with backend APIs and data handling (REST, GraphQL).

  • Experience mentoring developers, conducting code reviews, and fostering a high-performing team culture.

  • Strong understanding of modern DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, collaborative approach to problem-solving.

  • The ability to work autonomously, shape strategy and influence direction.

  • The desire to be a key part in building a tech hub and leading the tech team.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).

Nice to Have

  • Experience with SSR (e.g., Next.js, Nuxt)

  • Familiarity with microfrontend architecture

  • Contribution to open-source or technical blogs/speaking engagements

  • GDS/Travel Tech experience
